Babtisms, Lava Hot Springs and Back 2 School

We have a lot of catching up to do on the blog, First, bugs got baptized on August 2nd. It was a fun event and well attended by all family members.



Then we went to Lava Hot springs with the Jensen's. We stayed at a campground called "smiths trout haven", we floated the river in quad tubes and then went swimming. They have olympic style platform diving boards there that were fun to jump off of. Marcie, me and Logan dared to jump off the highest one. However, Marcie neglected to take a picture of me but i promise i did.






Lastly, much to Marcies delight, the kids went back to school on Monday. Brianna is starting Jr. High, Logan is in 5th and Bugs is in 3rd. I put the last 2 pics on because they make Marcie laugh every time she looks at them.

Sadness

It was with great sadness that we learned that our dear friend Cynthia Milligan passed away last week. We met Matt and Cynthia when were stationed in Nellis AFB Las Vegas. Matt had just graduated medical school and was a doc at the base hospital, he was also our bishop. Marcie and Cynthia became fast friends, this was mainly because of the similarities in their personalities (especially the ability to "tell it like it is" to anyone). I have always said that Cynthia was more than a friend to Marcie...She was family. We learned the value of good friends and game nights. You could find us almost every weekend eating chips and salsa or other junk food and playing "I've never" "black magic" among other games. Some of our top memories of Cynthia include:

-The Milligans putting "for sale" signs on ward members cars.
-The annual pilgrimage that Marcie and Cynthia took to Provo for womens conference.
-Cynthia's affinity to eating beef stew cold, right out of the can.
-Cynthia calling Marcie to help her clean her house for an adoption home study. When Marcie got there, there was goldfish in the sinks and toilets and toilet paper strewn all over the house. Cynthia then calling to tell her that it was all a joke.
-Taking the Milligans white minivan on a vacation to Utah.
-Game nights.
-Cynthia bringing up a deck of cards to the delivery room when Marcie was delivering Baileigh.
-Cynthia's love for all reality TV.
-Being able to keep up with the Milligans through blog posts after they moved to Moses Lake.
-Cynthia staying at our house in South Weber and not getting any sleep on our leaky air mattress.
-Marcie, Cynthia and Wendy going to the "Jazzercise" convention in Vegas.

The Milligans have always been a great inspiration and example in our lives. The direct and indirect influence they have on our family is phenomenal. They have always been there to show support for our family through the good times and the bad. Our hearts ache right now for their loss. On Cynthia's blog profile she claims that "I'm just an average woman in a wonderful world". We disagree, there was nothing average about her, she truly was a great person. We are thankful that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ that we will be able to see her again one day. Matt and Family...we love you and are praying for you everyday.
